Roller Derby teams in grudge match for the home season title

Roller Derby teams in grudge match for the home season title

Wellington’s Richter City Roller Derby league will host their 2015 home season final on Saturday 22 August at Kilbirnie Rec Centre.

Undefeated this season, Brutal Pageant will take on last year’s champions Smash Malice in a repeat of the 2014 championship bout match up. Fans will be out in their numbers in hot pink and red for the disgraced beauty queens of Pageant, who haven’t captured the cup since 2010 – or the leopard and black to cheer the trailer cats of Malice on to their 3rd home season title.

Richter’s 6th home season championship bout features several veteran skaters and a whole new crop of rookies who’ve joined the Richter ranks this year. Fans can check out the new line-ups at https://www.facebook.com/richtercity.

Now in its seventh year of public competition, Richter City boasts three home teams made up of members of the NZ#3 ranked Convicts (development team) and the NZ#1 ranked All Stars, who returned from Canberra in June with a podium finish behind the Aus #3 and #4 ranked teams – and their first international ranking.

Wellington is the premier location for derby competition in New Zealand and spectators will have to get in quick for the limited number of seats available.

Doors 6pm, bout starts 7pm – tickets available at [insert]
