Junior Hockey Players Recognised for Work Ethic and Attitude

Rachel Mace of the Taupo Pythons receives her medal

Monday 24 August 2015 – Following the conclusion of the Taupo junior hockey season, Unison recently recognised players for their excellence, both on and off the field.

Unison Group Chief Executive Officer Ken Sutherland said the 41 recipients of the Unison Medal were nominated by their coaches for having consistently shown great work ethic, discipline and fair-play.

“This is the first year the Unison Medal has been awarded, as part of our support for grass-roots hockey in the region.

“We were thrilled to see how delighted these young players were to receive their medal. We are proud to be able to recognise and encourage the future hockey stars in our region.”

Great Lake Taupo Hockey Club Development Officer, Aniek Lenoir, said the Club was very appreciative of the support from Unison.

“We are so thrilled to have Unison on board, and the kids and their families have really benefited from the partnership.

“The Unison Medal is a fantastic way to recognise the great qualities we encourage in young players, and it was a great moment for them to receive their award in front of their family and friends.”

Mr Sutherland said Unison’s support of junior hockey provided the Company with a valuable communication channel for sharing important safety messages with children, while at the same time supporting the club to enhance their development programmes, and nurture a life-long passion for the game in young players.

“We’re passionate about supporting our local communities, and about keeping them safe around our electrical assets within the region. We’re proud to be hockey’s greatest supporter in Taupo.”
