Celtic Pipe Band invites you ‘Under the Kilt’

Celtic Pipe Band invites you ‘Under the Kilt’ – Press Release

From the producers of the highly popular sell-out stage spectaculars Braveheart, and Mary Queen of Scots comes an entertaining look at what makes Scotland, its people and its music both unique and special. It’s a view of the Bonnie Isle that people have never seen before Scotland Under the Kilt.

Scotland - Under the Kilt hits the stage for a two show season at the Theatre Royal on Saturday night September 12th followed by a matinee on Sunday September 13th.

The Celtic Pipe Band of Stoke presents this one of a kind, refreshing look at all things Celtic in a celebration including powerful music, dancing, singing, drama, all served with a delightful side dish of humour.

New Zealand Toastmasters Humorous Speech Contest winner Don Grant is host for the evening. He will take the audience on a Celtic journey of whiskey, tartan, haggis folded into all manner of weird and wonderful Scottish anecdotes.

Scotland - Under the Kilt is wrapped around the music of this country’s Grade Three Champion Celtic Pipe Band of Stoke, joined by its Development Band, with members as young as 8-years-old.

Producer Helen Gilchrist says this year the production has attracted international input with Lucy Moignard joining the team bringing a fresh approach to the show.

She says Lucy is the CEO of ‘A Star Academy of the Arts Ltd’, in Nelson, and has worked in professional theatre and film in the UK as a producer, director, choreographer and performer in both London's Westend and on tour.

A troupe of 23 Highland Dancers will perform the likes of the traditional Highland Fling, Sword Dance and Sean Truibhais with a slightly modern twist all choreographed to delight and impress.

Helen Gilchrist says professional fiddle player Megan Barber joins the Scotland - Under the Kilt ensemble, along with a children’s choir from ‘A Star Academy of the Arts’ who, with backing from the Celtic Pipe Band, will present an extraordinary version of John Farnham’s “You’re The Voice”.

Brought together with fabulous lighting and multi-media images Scotland - Under the Kilt is sure to be a delight for the entire family and anyone with an interest in Scotland, its history, music and dance.
