NZ On Air appoints new Head of Music and Radio
NZ On Air has appointed David Ridler as the funding agency’s new Head of Music and Radio, leading the funding and promotion of local music.
Mr Ridler is the current Content Director of NZME’s Radio Hauraki. He has worked in commercial radio for a decade, having held content and programme director positions for Classic Hits, More FM and the former Channel Z. He has also previously worked for NZ On Air’s music team.
“NZ On Air was fortunate to have a range of highly qualified candidates interested in leading our work funding and promoting NZ music,” said Chief Executive Jane Wrightson. “There were 70 applicants for this position and it was a tough selection process. We’re delighted to have secured someone of David’s calibre and look forward to the energy and insights he will bring.”
David Ridler said he is very excited about stepping into the role in the new year. “The diversity and vibrancy of New Zealand music across all spectrums is incredible. NZ music is totally in my blood so I’m thrilled that I can help our music to reach the audience it deserves.”
David Ridler will start with NZ On Air in February 2016, based in Auckland. He succeeds Brendan Smyth, who is retiring.
