Sister Cities: Tartan Ties
Sister Cities: Tartan Ties
This year’s Sister Cities: Tartan Ties concerts will feature Dunedin musicians Robert Scott and Jay Clarkson. Scott is a guitarist, singer and songwriter for the bands The Bats and The Clean and Clarkson is a composer, guitarist, vocalist and writer for They Were Expendable, The Expendables and Breathing Cage.
With Edinburgh based Scottish artists Withered Hand, Emelle and Kevin Williamson these performers will present a number of solo and collaborative shows of song and verse (see programme below) that reflect the links and tartan ties between their sister cities.
Sister Cities: Tartan Ties Is a collaboration between sister cities Dunedin and Edinburgh that celebrates and promotes artists and creative projects in both cities, including Celebrate St Andrews Day and Burns Day in Dunedin Saturday 28 – Monday 30 November.
The British Council, along with Simon Vare of local music company Yellow Eye, has been working closely with Dunedin City Council, Creative Scotland and the Edinburgh Festivals to maximise bilateral opportunities between Dunedin and Scotland. This includes an annual Dunedin/Edinburgh Sister Cities show at the Celtic Connections Music Festival in Glasgow – the biggest winter festival in the world!
