VNR TEXT: South Auckland's NICO REID GRABS FIRST WIN - D1NZ Drifting Champs Round 2 in TAURANGA

Round 2 of the Demon Energy New Zealand Drifting Championship brought a smoke storm to Tauranga's Baypark Arena over the weekend, a sold out crowd witnessing some of the closest fought battles ever seen at the custom built motorsport circuit.

World drifting superstar Ryan Tuerck was a big attraction competing in a wildcard Toyota GT86, the visiting American having to adjust his driving style to the right hand side of the car.

The Top32 main event came down to a thrilling final with E46 BMW pilot Daynom Templeman battling young-gun Nico Reid in his Nissan Silvia, Templeman dropping 2 wheels off-track in sector 2 and handing South Auckland's Nico Reid his first ever round victory in the pro-championship

The next round of the D1NZ series heads to Taupo's Bruce MClaren Motorsport Park over the 30th and 31st of January
