Ross Enthusiastic After Improved Performance

Ross Enthusiastic After Improved Performance Found in Nissan Altima

Leading up to the South Island rounds of the NZ Touring Cars Nick Ross is feeling very enthusiastic with the extra speed found in the TOTAL Lubricants Nissan Altima over the Christmas break.

Tests have been made over the break with the wing used by the Supertourer cars being applied to the TLX cars with much success in bringing more parity to the series.

"With some testing done using the ST wing on the car along with some mods on our suspension we have made significant gains in our performance. We have managed to get some more rear end grip out of the car and there is definitely some time to be found in using their wing." says Ross.

This weekend sees the NZ Touring Cars head to the Mike Pero Motorsport Park in Ruapuna, Christchurch with practice Friday, qualification Saturday morning, Race One Saturday afternoon and then Races Two and Three on Sunday.

With Ruapuna being a very technical and long circuit the improvements on the Nissan will no doubt pay dividends for Ross and the ever pioneering Concept Motorsport crew who have battled fiercely over the NZV8TC championship for the past three seasons with Toyota and their lead driver Jason Bargwanna.

"I'm very much looking forward to getting out there and giving it a go with the new set up. Bargs and I were about the same pace at Hampton Downs so it will be interesting to see how we go at Ruapuna against the others." said Ross.

A sizeable turnout is expected at the event where the NZ Touring Cars will headline alongside the Toyota Racing Series who are having their first meeting of their season this weekend with their Lady Wigram Trophy meeting.

Ross, winner of the NZV8 Touring Cars Championship in the 2013-14 season, is currently in eighth position and very eager to move up the table while in the South Island to a position more relevant to his and the team's renowned performance.

There are two rounds of the South Island leg with round five held at Invercargill's Teretonga Park next weekend following this week's meeting at Ruapuna.

A blown engine and later a collision while competing at Pukekohe Park Raceway in November last year took it's toll on Ross and the team who have some hard work ahead of them over the next two weekends where they will attempt to move up and inside the top five on the championship table.

When the NZ Touring Cars do head back to the North Island Ross will have a round at Manfeild Autocourse and then Pukekohe Park Raceway with which to make an attack on the other drivers and teams to further improve his position and even challenge current points leader Simon Evans.

The fourth round of the NZ Touring Cars is being held at the Mike Pero Motorsport Park in Ruapuna, Christchurch over this weekend of January 16-17 followed by round five at Teretonga Park January 23-24.

Nick Ross, the TOTAL Lubricants Nissan Altima and Concept Motorsport are sponsored by TOTAL Lubricants, Jim Wright Nissan, Ryco 24/7, C&R Developments, Connex, Team Wino, Auto Trail Ltd, 82c and Tyre Traders.
