Kapiti Playhouse presents Calendar Girls
CALENDAR GIRLS is a play by Tim Firth based on the Miramax motion picture by Juliette Towhidi and Tim Firth
In the small town of Knapely, Yorkshire, Annie Clarke has just lost her husband, who was ill with leukemia. Inspired by his speech to the local Women's Institute, her best friend Chris decides to make an “alternative” calendar with local middle-age women posing nude, to raise funds for a new settee in the local hospital waiting room. The calendar becomes a worldwide sensation, but Chris and Annie’s friendship is put to the test under the strain of their new-found fame. Sunflowers are associated with this play because they were John Clarke’s favourite flower.
Calendar Girls is presented at Kapiti Playhouse’s theatre in Ruahine Street, Paraparaumu on Wednesdays to Saturdays 6th to 16th April at 8 pm, and Sunday 10th April at 2 pm.
Tickets are available at the Ticket Direct Information Desk, Coastlands Mall, Tel 04 902 9885 from Monday 14th March 2016.
