It takes a Gang of Mums to Raise Tweens to Teens

A series of workshops for mums of tweens to teenagers has been launched with an aim to give mums refreshing strategies and support for parenting during those challenging years

Parenting tweens to teens can be confusing terrain for parents. With fewer supportive services available for parents, as their children age and the family has busier schedules, parents may find themselves feeling disconnected from other adults, while their children’s behaviour and personalities may provide more unique challenges during this time.

“Gang of Mums” is a grassroots movement with the aim of providing workshops and an on-line supportive community connecting mums of tweens to teens who strive for the greater good of their families, themselves and the world at large.

Aligned with The WoWo Trust, a charitable foundation formed in response to a domestic violence death, Gang of Mums has a vision of seeing a drastic reduction in suicide and violence rates in New Zealand.

Becky Aud-Jennison, founder of Gang of Mums and presenter, has over 25 years of experience working with individuals and families and has taught counselling in New Zealand, successfully managed an outpatient mental health program serving individuals with severe depression and anxiety (with co-occuring eating disorders and/or substance and alcohol abuse), been a Parent Educator, an individual child and family therapist, a specialist consultant for early childhood education programs and worked within schools.
