Entries Open For NZ’s Largest Cycling Event
Entries for the 40th running of the Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge - New Zealand’s largest cycling event - opened on Friday and already hundreds of cyclists have chosen to take on one of the 14 different event categories on offer.
With a philosophy of inclusion, along with the opportunity for anyone to be part of the event, the introduction of a shorter course 40km Quarter Lake option to accompany the iconic 160km Round the Lake, as well as a choice of off-road mountain bike categories, have already been well received. A big feature of the 2016 event is that everyone will cross the event finish line.
To further enable riders of all types to experience and celebrate the 40th anniversary event, a 15% entry discount is also being offered for families and groups of 10 or more.
Entrants will also have the chance to win an amazing array of Spot Prizes at the events main prize giving early Saturday evening, including a brand new Holden Trax LTZ car valued at $36,990.
Event Director Aaron Carter comments “It’s great to see a wide variety of cyclists already signed up to join in our celebrations this year, and with the beautiful surrounds of Lake Taupo as a background, a wealth of accommodation options - both commercial and the likes of holiday homes to rent -, great cafes, shopping and an abundance of activities to keep the whole family busy, the weekend of Saturday the 26th of November is going to be one not to miss”.
