Rising Voices Youth Poetry Auditions: Auckland OPEN CALL

Rising Voices Youth Poetry Movement proudly announces open auditions for its sixth year, welcoming Aotearoa’s youth to raise their voices to a national platform. Founded in 2011, Rising Voices has established itself as the pinnacle youth slam event for New Zealand’s vibrant spoken word community.

This unique programme offers writers between 16 and 24 years old living in Christchurch and Auckland the opportunity to be part of a 7 week workshop series under the guidance of our exceptional mentors. This workshop series culminates in a Regional Poetry Slam, where the top poets are selected to move into the Grand Slam held at Auckland Town Hall October 22nd.

As a premiere Spoken Word programme, Rising Voices devotes time to developing young voices both on page and on stage: this is your opportunity to speak your own truth. Participants gain new confidence in writing and performance with intensive coaching from professional performance poets.

Auckland auditions will be held Thursday July 21st at Youthline (13 Maidstone Street, Grey Lynn) between 7PM and 9PM. Participants may also auction via a video submission if unable to make the designated time.
