“The best player to play in New Zealand” signs with Nelson Pine LVL Tasman United
Nelson Pine LVL Tasman United is delighted to announce the signing of marquee player Paul Ifill, described as “The best player to play in New Zealand.”
Barbados International representative and English Premier League player Ifill played over 100 matches for the Wellington Phoenix from 2009 to 2013. His previous English clubs include Sheffield United, Millwall and Crystal Palace. Paul Ifill wore the Millwall number 7 jersey versus Manchester United in the 2004 FA Cup final. Paul Ifill is currently player/coach of Wairarapa United and played for Hawkes Bay United in last season’s ASB Premiership.
Nelson Pine Tasman United General Manager Clive Beaumont says “this is a great signing for the club on many levels. Paul will not only make a huge difference individually on the field but he also brings a pedigree as a player that will inspire those around him. It is great for our local players to be around a true professional of the calibre of Paul.”
On his signing Paul Ifill commented “I have been really impressed by the way Tasman United have gone about their business and also with the buzz around Nelson surrounding the team already. Having spoken to Richard (Anderson) last week I am looking forward to getting started and playing an attractive style of football. It’s great to be involved with something from its inception and I am excited by the prospects of being able to play for Tasman United. I believe I will be part of a successful team.”
Nelson Pine LVL Tasman United will compete in their first season of the NZ Premiership commencing in October with nine home games played at Trafalgar Park.
