Daylight saving starts this weekend
New Zealand daylight saving begins this Sunday, 25 September 2016, when clocks go forward an hour at 2.00 amto become 3.00 am. The extra hour of daylight in the evenings will run till Sunday 2 April 2017, when clocks goback an hour at 3.00 am to 2.00 am.
People may find it convenient to advance their clocks by one hour before going to bed on Saturday 24 September.
The change to daylight saving is also a good time for residents to check their household emergency plans, survival kits and home smoke alarms.
