Flat Tyre Robs Armstrong of Top Six Finish

A flat tyre robbed young Kiwi karter Marcus Armstrong on a top six finish in the premier KZ2 class at the annual WSK Final Cup meeting at Adria in Italy on Sunday.

Works Tony Kart driver Armstrong, 16, from Christchurch, set the second quickest lap time in Qualifying Practice and finished fifth in the Pre Final only to retire from the Final - while in fifth place - on the last lap.

"A tyre blister caused a puncture and we retired after running as high as fourth," he said from the track.

Earlier in the event the young Kiwi claimed a seventh and two fifth placings across the three heats to be fourth overall on points heading into the Pre Final which he finished fifth in.

The KZ2 Final was won by Armstrong's Tony Kart teammate Marco Ardigo from Czech Patrik Hajek (Kosmic-Vortex) and Italian Francesco Iacovacci (Luxor-LKE).
