Bats is Alive with the Sound of
Julie!
Wanderlust Productions is bringing their feel-good show These are a Few of my Favourite Sings to BATS Theatre in December. Die-hard Julie Andrews fans and novices alike will be treated to more than a few of their favourite “sings” in this show that’s part biography, part self-help seminar but mostly Julie’s greatest hits.
The “unashamedly populist, uplifting and joyous celebration of song” is the work of Wellington sisters Georgia Jamieson Emms and Francesca Emms. Written by Francesca and performed by Georgia, the show draws on the sisters’ childhood experiences growing up in a musical family and their deep love for Julie Andrews and the characters she portrayed. These are a Few of my Favourite Sings features music from Mary Poppins, My Fair Lady, The Boyfriend, The King and I and of course, The Sound of Music.
Wanderlust is a Wellington-based production company, whose aim is to make live performances of cabaret, musical theatre and opera accessible to people across New Zealand. Georgia founded the company after returning to NZ from Germany where she’d been working in an independent opera company in Hamburg for 3 years. Wanderlust has already produced and toured a number of successful shows including Happily Ever After and Cosi Fan Tutte.
These are a Few of my Favourite Sings opens at BATS Theatre on Wednesday 14th December at 6.30pm. Tickets can be booked online at bats.co.nz.
