Fourth Year of Nostalgia Festival brings Liam Finn to Town
Nostalgia is pleased to announce Liam Finn will headline the fourth year of Christchurch’s favourite annual food and music festival.
Set in the picturesque surrounds of the Ferrymead Heritage Park's 1900’s replica township, this one-day events brings the cream of New Zealand artists together with local food, drink, and market stalls to deliver a creative atmosphere for young and old to enjoy.
Nostalgia 2017 is set to be bigger and better than last year's sell-out event, says festival director Johnny Gibson.
Finn will be jetting in from Los Angeles to join another of New Zealand's favourite musical sons – the multi-award winning Lawrence Arabia across two stages of musical entertainment.
Crowd favourites Sal & the Babyshakes also return for their third appearance, alongside singer-songwriter Nadia Reid, and Minisnap, featuring Kaye Woodward, Paul Kean, and Malcolm Grant of The Bats fame. Five more emerging local and national acts are also set to play, says Gibson.
Local breweries Three Boys Beer, Brew Moon, Beer Baroness, Harrington's, Two Thumb, and Ghost have all contributed a unique Nostalgia-themed drop to create a specially-brewed festival six-pack. Wine lovers can sample some of the region's best at the wine tasting tent and bar, or a caffeine boost from Lyttelton Coffee Co.
With more vendors lined up than ever, festival-goers can also look forward to sampling a diverse array of local and nationally-sourced food from local names like Alex Davies, Johnny Schwass, Bearlion and Heisenburger.
Last year's hugely popular steam train rides will return, as well as tram rides, within an alternative festival layout, Gibson says.
“This year the main stage will move to a larger grass area to provide better shade and seating, while the town centre will reprise its original role as an energetic communal space for people to come together, check out our market stalls, and enjoy a range of different performers”.
Now in it's fourth year, Gibson says Nostalgia is continually evolving, but the focus hasn't shifted from sustainability or providing food, drink, and entertainment for all ages.
“We're a young team but we're driven by a passion for creating unique experiences for the people of Christchurch, and we're determined to push the boat out even further this year,” he says.
