PRESS STATEMENT:
The River Jesters are happy to announce the release of their new album Beautiful Mire.
Recorded at Stroke Media Studios in Christchurch, the album features 11 original songs and is available now in digital and hard copy formats. The four-piece Dunedin based rock band has announced a 22-date summer tour of New Zealand, spanning from Invercargill to Auckland. The tour will visit the group’s favourite NZ venues and promises to deliver a high-energy show to each destination. Performances will include previous singles Pony, Turn Me On, La Ba Da and I Get Lost as well as the live unveiling of new songs from the album. “This is shaping up to be the greatest tour we’ve ever done and we can’t wait to be back out there bringing these new songs to our fans” said front man Tom Batchelor.
BAND
BIOGRAPHY:
The River Jesters
are a modern rock quartet from Dunedin, New
Zealand. The band is made up of Tom Batchelor (vocals,
guitar), Michael Morris (guitar), Sam McKean (bass),
Antonio Mercuri (drums) and was originally formed in late
2012 after a chance meeting on the street while busking.
Early 2014 would see the release of the band’s debut
single / video, Pony, which was
funded by NZOA and featured on The Rock FM,
C4 and Juice TV. Later that year the group
would embark upon their first national Project
Runaway tour, visiting 20 venues across New
Zealand and building the beginnings of a fan base away from
home. Heads began to turn as The River Jesters
charged on with press appearances at The Rock FM,
Jono & Ben, TV3 News, The Edge FM,
Girlfriend Magazine, NZ Herald and The
Woman’s Weekly. 2015 brought on the Summer
Of Love New Zealand tour, which included
numerous big stage appearances such as Feastock,
headlining at WaikeriFest and AMI Stadium in
Christchurch, performing to a crowd of 18,000. Later that
year the band was commissioned to write and sync a new
single. Turn Me On was released with
a very popular DIY video and remains to be the group’s
only available self-produced recording. In the summer of
2016, a third national tour in support of two new singles,
La Ba Da and I Get Lost
would solidify The River Jesters’
reputation as an exciting and un-missable live act right
around New Zealand. The tour sold out of all merchandise and
filled venues over 23 massive nights. Batchelor, Morris,
McKean and Mercuri spent the later half of 2016 at Stroke
Media Studios in Christchurch making what has been a
highly anticipated debut album. Just released (25/11/2016),
Beautiful Mire is now available on
Bandcamp, Spotify, iTunes, Pandora
and Google Play. The band now prepare for a
string of NZ summer appearances including a NYE party at
their favourite venue Common Room in Hastings and a
main stage slot on the bill at CubaDupa street
festival in Wellington to an estimated crowd of
100,000.
