Christmas joy comes early to Auckland

Christmas joy comes early to Auckland

Cadbury’s Christmas Truck Tour partners with New World to bring festive cheer to local shoppers and deliver Christmas gifts to families in hospital

Auckland, New Zealand, 19 December 2016: Over 1,200 Christmas gifts have been donated by Auckland locals to date, all going to families spending time in Starship Hospital over the festive season.

Donations were made at New World Waihi, Waiuku, Southmall, Howick, Clendon, Papakura, Eastridge, Browns Bay, and Mt Roskill supermarkets and were collected by New World and Cadbury as part of the nationwide Cadbury Christmas Tour.

Brad Clark, Starship Foundation’s CEO, was at New World Mt Roskill to receive the Christmas donations on behalf of the families and says, “We’re so grateful for the generosity of the community, who along with Cadbury and New World are helping make what can be a stressful time, feel a bit more like Christmas.”

Cadbury Country Head James Kane says, “We are delighted to be able to partner with New World to bring the Christmas spirit to families going through a difficult time this festive season. The Auckland region has been extremely generous and we would like to thank everyone who donated a gift for creating extra Christmas cheer for the deserving families at Starship.”

The giving didn’t stop there – New World shoppers were also in for a special treat from Cadbury, as the New World Mt Roskill carpark was transformed into a pop-up winter wonderland with fun, games and chocolate on-hand to get people celebrating and excited ahead of Christmas Day.

“We’re delighted to get on board with Cadbury and encourage our already generous New World customers to give a little extra when they stock up, bringing a little joy to those deserving families spending time in Starship this festive season. Christmas can be a stressful time for some and these generous donations will make a real difference to those in need,” says Chris Quin, CEO, Foodstuffs North Island.

Throughout the month of December, Cadbury is travelling the length of the country in its Cadbury Christmas Truck sharing the joy of Christmas with New World shoppers busy preparing for festivities and supporting New World with local hospital Christmas gift collections.

Donations are also being collected from New World Milford, Kumeu, New Lynn, Victoria Park, Warkworth, Orewa, Whangaparoa and Stonefields in the comings days to go to the Starship Foundation and will be gifted on Christmas Eve.
