Connan Mockasin at REC 13/14th of January 2017
Connan Mockasin and his band will play 2 intimate shows on Friday the 13th and Saturday the 14th of JANUARY.
Te Awanga’s own CONNAN MOCKASIN will play TWO very special intimate shows at Auckland’s new live music venue REC.
Connan Mockasin (nee Hosford) remains a very enigmatic figure performing here with his band only a few times in the past decade, the last time being a critically lauded afternoon slot at the 2015 edition of the Laneway Festival.
Splitting his time between Paris, New York, and Tokyo, this is a rare opportunity to see hometown hero Connan Mockasin perform a small intimate showcase of his rare and varied talents backed by his touring band (Rory McCarthy (guitar/keys), Nick Harsant (bass) and Matt Eccles (drums)) - playing music drawn from his discography and who knows what else.
Famously eschewing set lists for off-the-cuffery, “so that it felt new every time we play. The band has a couple of rehearsals to begin with, but we don’t practise after that. I’d rather follow the mood of the audience... playing the same songs in the same way, every night, would be so boring.” This will be a living, breathing set of spellbinding evenings that are not to be missed.
