Disenchanted Prophets provides an alternative visual documentation of Waitangi protests. This landmark exhibition brings together images by some of New Zealand’s leading photographers, both Maaori and Paakeha. Each photographer has maintained a commitment to representing the fractures of our nation. Collectively they have recorded the Waitangi protests not only for purposes of documentation, but because of a belief in honouring the Treaty. In this way, the exhibition represents a model for engaging with New Zealand’s bicultural identity.
