Ed Sheeran scores NZ chart record
Ed Sheeran makes history today as all 16 tracks from his latest album Divide feature in the Official NZ Top40 Singles Chart.
It is the first time an artist has charted 16 songs in the same week and the only time an entire album has featured in the Singles Chart says Recorded Music NZ Chart Compiler Paul Kennedy.
Divide also claims the top spot in the New Zealand Albums Chart while Sheeran’s lead single Shape Of You drops from #1 after nine weeks at the top.
Our very own global superstar Lorde takes over #1 on the Singles Chart with her new hit Green Light.
“The unprecedented
dominance of both these artists this week is a demonstration
of the way great music can capture the imagination and
adoration of the public with an immediacy and intensity that
no other creative medium can match,” says
Kennedy.
