Alex De Vries’ new release ‘Take Me For A Ride’
Much more than just a smooth Pop Ballad, Alex De Vries’ ‘Take Me For A Ride’ is your introduction into a new music realm.
‘Take Me For a Ride’ is an easy flowing song with subtle R&B vibes that plays with the themes of self exploration with some risky undertones.
“I think of myself as being at the intersection of diversity, being a gay mixed-race African of European, South East Asian and Jewish descent, raised in a distinctly Pacific setting.”
Alex describes this song as a search of self-worth and fulfilment through sexual pleasure, in the full comfort of one’s own skin. On another level, ‘Take Me For A Ride’ is about doubtful self-reflection and the trials of objectification.
He isn’t your typical lyricist or songwriter; Alex has a real desire to bring about change and create music that mirrors his own exploration into human sexuality and anthropological issues.
Heading towards his first album, titled “Gloria”, Alex has already released and performed in his home city of Cape Town, South Africa. In 2012, he released his “No Camping” E.P.
Alex is transforming into the Nubian Prince he was meant to be.
An experience that is as valid as any other.
