Aktive – Auckland Sport & Recreation Board appointment


Aktive – Auckland Sport & Recreation (Aktive) has announced the appointment of respected community development intermediary, father of seven and South Auckland resident Nick Alexander to its board.

The appointment took effect on 24 October 2017 for a three year term, taking the board total to eight.

“I am delighted to welcome Nick to the board,” says Raewyn Lovett, Aktive Chair. “He brings extensive experience in the private, iwi, public and non-profit sectors. This expertise will be valuable given our collaboration with industry and partners, particularly in community development and whānau engagement.”

Mr Alexander has considerable governance experience and knowledge around developing partnerships between public and private sector agencies. He is currently Director of Navigator Limited and has led Te Mana o Ngāti Rangitihi, Austraining International in the Pacific and Habitat for Humanity International Vietnam.

The annual appointment of Trustees to the board is the responsibility of the Selection and Performance Committee of Aktive. The Committee comprises two representatives from Aktive (including the Chair), Auckland Council, Sport New Zealand and the Regional Sports Trusts, and approves board appointments following an independent selection process.
