Earn The Fern - New Zealand Olympic Committee
The
Queen’s Baton Relay is a Commonwealth Games tradition
that
celebrates diversity, inspires community pride and
excites people in
the lead up to the Games – and it’s
coming our way!
The baton is travelling throughout the
Commonwealth on its journey to
the 2018 Gold Coast
Commonwealth Games. Inside the baton, a message from Her
Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is secured. The relay calls the
world’s best athletes from around the Commonwealth to come
together in peaceful and friendly competition and the
Queen’s message will be read out at the opening ceremony
in April next year.
Now is your chance to be a part of history!
Outstanding individuals from around New Zealand will have the opportunity to carry the baton as it travels across the country this December.
Those selected will earn the right to be a baton bearer in recognition of their outstanding commitment and contribution to their local community.
