Flamingo Pier Waiheke 2018 – First Line-up Announcement
Flamingo Pier Waiheke 2018 – First Line-up Announcement (3 More Acts TBA)
Flamingo Pier
is a one-day festival of vibrant sounds, sights and flavours
set in the Rangihoua olive grove on Waiheke Island. Now
into its fourth year following the sold-out 2017 edition,
Flamingo Pier returns on 3 February 2018.
Live acts and DJs are spread across an open-air stage in the natural amphitheatre of the olive grove and a second stage hidden under the native Forest canopy. Neon illuminates the site after sunset with art installations augmenting the naturally beautiful location.
Partners serve delicious street food across the olive grove whilst bars built from salvaged materials serve cocktails, craft beers and Waiheke wines.
SOUNDS
SESSION VICTIM (DE) -
Drawing on a deep knowledge of funk, disco and house and releasing an unparalleled energy when they perform, you won’t find a duo with a more visceral connection to soul than Session Victim in the midst of a live set. When you go to a party or festival with them at the helm, what is refreshing is the degree to which they keep the good vibes alive, weaving magic dance floor moments, stamping their wild personalities on every performance and leaving a trail of smiling faces in their path. Their third LP ‘Listen To Your Heart’, released on Delusions of Grandeur in June 2017 is the sound of Session Victim reaching their idea of disco nirvana. After joining our 3rd Anniversary party in London earlier this year, we’re ridiculously excited to present a full live set from the boys in New Zealand. www.soundcloud.com/sessionvictim
CC:DISCO! (AUS) - ‘Less chin
stroking, more dancing’. CC:DISCO’s t-shirt really says
it all. Playing disco, house and boogie cuts with her heart
at the controls, CC triggers a joyous feedback loop that
infects the dancefloor. There’s no pretention, only pure
feeling.
A mainstay of the Melbourne club scene having presented radio shows since the age of 15,
her weekly slot on local institution PBS FM ‘Smoke and Mirrors’ is now celebrated as the
essential start to every Friday night. All of this air-time has primed her for her current
residency on Australia’s most respected radio station Triple J. In recent years, CC’s devotion has seen her graduate to touring DJ and main stage festival act. She’s toured Europe and ticked a large chunk of her bucket list - opening for Theo Parrish in Auckland, soundtracking the romantic Adriatic Sea at Dimensions and Soundwaves, featuring on Boiler Room and making her mark between Move D and Moodymann at Australian festival Strawberry Fields. We immediately wanted to bring her to Waiheke after she played a killer set for us in London earlier this year. www.soundcloud.com/cc-disco
LEISURE - If you’ve seen LEISURE
live, you’re one of the lucky few. They opened the Laneway
Festival mainstage in 2016 - the NZ Herald said “...in Got
It Bad they've got their very own disco anthem you can't
help but feel could one day close Laneway, not open it.”
They’ve played a handful of shows in Sydney, LA,
Vancouver, New York and London presented by music blogs
including Pigeons and Planes and Hilly Dilly and headline
shows in Auckland that have all sold out in no time at
all.
Bloggers love them; they’ve had more than eight million streams across the songs released on their self-titled debut album, which reached fans in every corner of the globe.
The live show reflects the extraordinary musicianship that’s so evident in LEISURE’s recorded music, but brings listeners away from their headphones and into the space to share the moment. LEISURE has an ethos of relaxation and enjoyment, making music that feels like a summer holiday. They’re perfectly formed for a daytime set in the olive grove.

FRANK BOOKER - Frank Booker has
built a worldwide reputation for incredible edits and DJ
sets. His work sells out on vinyl instantly, and he recently
launched his own vinyl only imprint, Down In The Basement.
As an FP Waiheke regular who consistently creates magical
moments on the Forest stage, we can’t wait to welcome him
back.
VICE Magazine on Frank Booker – “This guy has been DJing for 20 years and this set epitomised his honed skills 10 times over. His vibe is disco, straight up discotheque, and it was mixed superbly. There was not one soul left on the dance floor not furiously dancing to save their lives.” www.soundcloud.com/frankbooker
FLAMINGO PIER DJs – Residents Dominic Jones, Bradley Craig and Luke Walker bring the sound of Flamingo Pier London parties to Waiheke with an extended set spanning disco, boogie and house from around the world. www.soundcloud.com/flamingopier

NOTES: It was
by chance that New Zealand born DJ/Producer Luke Walker met
fellow Kiwi Tom Seaton, at CRATE, the East London brewery,
bar and pizzeria co-founded by Tom.
“I wanted to learn more about food and drink and Tom wanted to be delve deeper into music so we immediately got excited about what we could do together,” says Luke.
Their partnership resulted in the birth of Flamingo Pier, a monthly party held on a floating pontoon in Hackney Wick.
Flamingo Pier became a platform from which Tom, Luke and their friends in the Hackney Wick artistic community could create and curate music, art, food and drink that they were excited by. The common thread linking the elements at Flamingo Pier has remained consistent – vibrancy, playfulness, positivity, community and joyfulness.
A dedicated following arose with consistently sold out events and Timeout naming the party ‘Top of the Popups’.
At the end of summer 2014 they took the party home to New Zealand for the first time, staging their first Flamingo Pier festival at an Olive Grove on subtropical Waiheke Island. Now onto its fourth year the festival features two music stages, one hidden under the native Forest canopy, with art and light installations created by the collective featured across the natural amphitheatre of the site.
The first music produced by the collective, the FPC001 EP, was released by French label Kitsune. Early 2018 sees the next release of music from the collective.
Now into its fourth season of London events, Flamingo Pier has moved on from their original home at The Counter Cafe to accommodate larger numbers and provide a fresh canvas to work with. The location may change but the vision remains the same - create and curate music, art, food and drink to bring joy to their guests and themselves.
