Run the Vines - Central Otago
On Saturday 3rd February 2018 Pulse Fitness and PT Central are staging the first ever “Run the Vines” in conjunction with McArthur Ridge Holdings through the incredible
McArthur Ridge Pinot Noir Vineyards on the outskirts of Alexandra. A stunning course has been set by Leroy De Beer in conjunction with Camille O’Connor from PT Fitness and Pulse Fitness. The inspiration for the event comes from similar, and very successful events held in Marlborough and Hawkes Bay Vineyards.
The emphasis is on people enjoying themselves either by Running or Walking one of the three distances available, 5km/10km/21km.
“Challenge yourself and set a goal of completing one of the distances,” says Jason Dellaca,
spokesman for the McArthur Ridge Holdings group who purchased the vineyard in July 2017. There will also be an opportunity for participants and their supporters to partake in a “Vertical Tasting” of several vintages of our fine Pinot Noirs after the event.
While this is the largest single planting of Pinot Noir in New Zealand, the aim of the new owners is to look to produce award winning Pinot Noirs to take to the world market even though the production is already extremely large.
The vision of the owners is to continue to release Pinot Noir with good “Bottle Age” into the market place, and we are pleased to say that for the first time a “Reserve 2017” was blended in December. This limited edition will be released into the market at a date still to be determined. The Vineyard also produces a Pinot Rosé which has been very well received.
Considerable development is being undertaken around the Vineyard with the release of the new Golden Heights Development to the market last week. These are 8 Hectare blocks with raised building platforms that give fantastic vistas over the vineyard and the surrounding mountain ranges.
Further development is being planned and McArthur Ridge looks forward to being involved in this “Run the Vines” event and other community projects whilst employing a number of local full-time staff.
