Kiwi Cult-Hit Aunty Preps For Another Family Get-Together

AUNTY - Created by Johanna Cosgrove

Sell-Out, Multi-Award Winning, Kiwi Cult-Hit Aunty Preps For Another Rowdy Family Get-Together

Hello everyone it's your aunty here, family bbq will be at mine this year. Bring a plate but I'm on a diet so please be considerate. BYO booze and durries no scabs this year thank you.

Winner of Best Comedy at the Auckland Fringe 2017, and “Best Line in a Kiwi Play,” (Auckland Theatre Awards), AUNTY is more outrageous than ever, as she returns to BATS Theatre, Wellington from 13 - 17 February 2018.

Fresh from sold-out seasons across New Zealand, Johanna Cosgrove brings her award-winning solo performance back for the family reunion you never knew you wanted or needed. This one woman tornado is an homage to the Aunties we love (and love to hate).

As the sav starts pouring, new boyfriends are lovingly embarrassed, everyone in the audience is part of the whanau. The yarns are spun and drama ensues as we begin to question the attitudes and relationships with our own family.

Johanna Cosgrove, one-half of charity t-shirt company The Nope Sisters, said “I wanted to start a conversation around what’s often left unsaid at the family BBQ.” In 2017, she hosted the Auckland Theatre Awards, including serenading Prime Minister of NZ, Jacinda Ardern on the saxophone. Cosgrove is one of New Zealand’s fastest rising comedic stars.

Directed by Stella Reid (Basement Tapes, Nominated Best Director Wellington Theatre Awards)
