The Shared Lines: Kaikoura Arts Festival is in Full Swing!

The Shared Lines: Kaikoura Arts Festival is in full swing, having enjoyed a successful launch on Saturday, with activities continuing daily unti the big finale Street Party this Saturday.

The Festival is produced by the Shared Lines Collaborative, with the Kaikōura Museum, The Mayfair Arts and Culture, Te Ahi Wairua O Kaikōura and Kaikōura District Council, and runs 16-24 February 2019.

The Shared Lines Collaborative is a not-for-profit network of artists that explore themes of art and resilience. It involves artists from areas affected by earthquakes and natural disasters from across New Zealand, as well as delegates from Japan and the Pacific.

Members of the Shared Lines team have been visiting Kaikōura during 2018 to meet the community and help to plan a festival that celebrates the strength and resilience of the people of Kaikōura.

Shared Lines will involve a series of arts related workshops in the lead up to the event, culminating in a Kaikōura STREET PARTY from 4pm-Late on Saturday 23 February.

Highlights of the Festival include the Shared Lines Art Exhibition, visiting Japanese artist in residence YASUAKI IGARASHI, Maori WEAVING and PEPEHA WORKSHOPS, interactive performances including Audrey Baldwin’s SNOOD and the Binge Culture’s show WHALES, Pie in the Sky’s NIGHT BIKE PARADE, and the the BRIC ’a’ BRAC RAVERS DJ PARTY....plus… an afternoon packed with talent on the KK COMMUNITY STAGE!

Local Talent Unleashed in Kaikoura!

The local community is unleashing its talent in many aspects of the festival!

The KK Community Stage
Exhibiting artwork alongside artists from New Zealand and abroad,
Participating in the Pie in the Sky Night Bike Parade,
Participating in Binge Culture’s award winning audience participation show WHALES, and
Volunteering to support ongoing workshops, and our international artist in residence.
