Circability Celebrates Five Years Of Youth Circus Festival
On Friday 23 & Saturday 24 May, Circability Trust will celebrate the fifth anniversary of Youth Circus Festival, Aotearoa’s largest inclusive circus event for youth.

Thomas Hinz, Co-Founder and Creative Director of Circability, says, “Circability was founded upon the power of community and social circus. In 2024, Youth Circus Festival focused on performance employment pathways for youth in circus arts; to celebrate the fifth year of our Youth Circus Festival, we bring the festivities back to our centre to host the youth circus community for all ages, all abilities and all cultures."
Circability’s rangatahi-led group and Auckland circus youth leaders Circ.Us organiser Alysha Dodampegamage says, "the Youth Circus festival is an amazing opportunity for young people to get together to express their creativity through performance art."
Youth Circus Festival engages rangatahi from all ages, all abilities and all cultures, exemplifying Circability’s dedication to social circus and community. The organisation’s skilled and passionate circus tutors will lead sessions teaching diabolo, juggling, aerial arts, hoops, silks and more, as well as functional juggling devices for people with disabilities to learn circus activities.
Friday’s Youth Circus Festival event focuses on Circability’s commitment to social circus, from 10:00am - 2:30pm; Saturday’s Youth Circus Festival runs from 10:00am - 4:30pm, focusing on community circus. Both days are free and open to the public.
Capping off Aotearoa’s Youth Week, Youth Circus Festival is an event that brings together rangatahi, whānau and friends to learn circus activities through play and fun, where everyone can experience the social and psychological benefits of circus with Circability: All ages, all abilities, all cultures - better together.
