Registrations are now open at www.poriruahastalent.nz and close on Friday 4 July. Auditions will be held on Saturday 19 July, with the grand final on Saturday 16 August at Te Rauparaha Arena.

Porirua Mayor Anita Baker says not only were the performances fantastic, but the event also brought the community together.

“The smiles on the faces of those children and young people just said it all. This event provides hope and inspiration to our tamariki and rangatahi and shows them they really can do anything if they put themselves forward.”

Event organiser Tania Carr says last year’s performers left her lost for words.

“I was stunned by the variety and depth of talent our young people brought to the stage. We had everything from spectacular dance moves to youngsters with spine chilling vocals through to talented guitarists, pianists and a seriously staunch young beat boxer.

“Holy Family School left the audience wanting more with their winning kapa haka performance and I never even knew what hip hop animation was until Sage Ngatai Skipper hit the dance floor.”

Tania says she’s really excited to see what new and unexpected talents are uncovered this year.

We’re looking for the best singers, musicians, dancers, and groups in two different age categories: 5-12 and 13-25.

Again, there will be awesome prizes for winners and additional opportunities for those winners to showcase their talents more widely.

Social media sensation, cultural comedian, actor and musician Pairama Wright joins last year’s judges; NZ Alt Country Singer/Songwriter Ainslie Allen, Fredwyn Kisona of Tomorrow People, talented dancer and choreographer Aroha Davidson.
