A Night Behind The Scenes: Chasing World Cup And Olympic Glory With Alice Robinson And Tim Cafe
The spotlight will be on two of Queenstown’s most accomplished snow sports locals during an in-depth, behind the scenes conversation about competing and succeeding at the pinnacle of world sport hosted by the Queenstown Alpine Ski Team (QAST) on Thursday August 14th at the Cargo Brew Hall at Arthur’s Point.
QAST Programme Director Celine Arnold is encouraging people throughout the community to take the opportunity to hear talented World Cup alpine ski racer Alice Robinson and her coach Tim Cafe share their journey to international podium success.
“The event will take a deep dive into Alice’s recent remarkable Northern Hemisphere season where she won New Zealand’s first ever FIS Alpine World Championship medal after taking out the silver in giant slalom and finished second overall in both the World Championships and World Cup standings. It all started for Alice with QAST and we’re very proud of what she has gone on to achieve,” she says. “This will be an in-depth, behind-the scenes interview where Alice will be joined by her coach Tim Cafe, a well-known local and former QAST athlete.”
“Tim has also had a great ski career culminating in his selection for the 2010 Winter Olympics. He will outline his role from a coaching perspective and discuss the planning, training, setbacks, challenges and triumphs involved in chasing World Cup podiums, World Championship medals and Olympic dreams.”
The evening will have an après-ski food and drink theme and will also feature an auction to raise funds for producing the next generation of local ski athletes.
“It’s an opportunity for the whole community to celebrate such an acclaimed local sporting duo and at the same time meet some of Queenstown’s up and coming ski talent and help support the next generation of champions as they pursue their world stage ambitions,” says Celine.
Event: Thursday August 14th - 6.00pm Cargo Brew Hall
