Pro Wrestling Returns To Western Springs, Auckland, NZ – NJPW TAMASHII: New Dawn Rising

New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) returns to Tāmaki Makaurau on Friday 29 August with New Dawn Rising, a live professional wrestling event at TAPAC in Western Springs. Presented by NJPW TAMASHII and the NZ Dojo. This event continues the mission to grow professional wrestling across New Zealand, grounded in local identity and South Pacific values.

NJPW TAMASHII will be the first pro wrestling event held in Western Springs since WWE’s Road to WrestleMania tour in 2007. Nearly three decades earlier, in 1979, “High Chief” Peter Maivia stood in this storied part of Auckland when he challenged Harley Race for the NWA World Heavyweight Title. That moment became a defining chapter in New Zealand’s wrestling history.

New Dawn Rising builds on that legacy; featuring homegrown talent from the NZ Dojo, alongside wrestlers from Japan, Australia, and across the Pacific. The event follows the recent crowning of TAMASHII’s first Tag Team Champions, The Pretty Boys, and signals the continued growth of a New Zealand brand with global reach.
