ROADKILL: The Uber-Cool Musical' Rolls Into Basement Theatre, Auckland This September

After a hit debut at the NZ Fringe Festival and a wildly successful tour of Wellington, Dunedin, Nelson and beyond, the Roadkill Karaoke Van is finally pulling up in Auckland — and it's bringing a whole new kind of theatre with it.

Strap in for ROADKILL: The Uber-Cool Musical — an immersive, one-man, rock 'n' roll theatre experience like no other. Performed in the back of a neon-lit 10-seater van, this laugh-out-loud musical comedy takes you on a high-octane journey through love, life, and late-night karaoke chaos.

Created and performed by Tom Knowles, ROADKILL is part stand-up, part musical, part fever dream — and 100% unforgettable. From heartfelt ballads to rave-style bangers, this show will have you singing, laughing, and maybe even shedding a tear, all from the comfort of the van’s back seat. It’s as if Flight of the Conchords, Bo Burnham, and your last weird Uber ride had a musical lovechild in a Temu-fied party van.

Whether you're a die-hard theatre lover or just in it for a night of outrageous fun, ROADKILL is the kind of wild ride you didn’t know you needed. With limited seats per show and just two weeks of performances, this is your chance to jump aboard New Zealand’s most unique theatrical adventure.

Basement Theatre | Sept 3–6 & Sept 24–27

About the Show:

Winner of Best in Fringe and Emerging Artist of the Year (Dunedin Fringe), and Most Innovative show (NZ Fringe), ROADKILL: The Uber-Cool Musical is one man, thirty voices, a DIY musical, and a karaoke van. The audience becomes the show – expect to control the lights, hold a fan, press the space bar… maybe even say “I do. “It’s an award-winning hit that redefines live performance and makes traditional musicals feel like a Prius.”
