Kids Rock 4 Palestine: Young Musicians Raise Their Voices For Gaza’s Children
WELLINGTON, NZ — A group of passionate 11- and 12-year-olds are making noise for a cause close to their hearts. They have organised a fundraiser for Palestine's children where all of the performers are under 18.
On Sunday 24 August, the youth-led fundraiser Kids Rock 4 Palestine will take over Meow on Edward Street from 2pm, with an all-under-18 line-up of bands rocking out in support of Palestinian children trying to survive Israel's genocide.
Acts on the bill include local rising stars The JayJs, Lux, Burnt Indigo, and Rocktopus, proving that age is no barrier to using music as a form of protest and compassion.
Organised by a group of intermediate-aged students, the event aims to raise funds for two trusted New Zealand-based charities: Kiwi Trust for Palestinian Children’s Relief and Convoys of Good.
“We have seen videos and pictures of children just like us in Gaza who have been bombed and shot at and starved,” says Eddie, 12.
“And while the government won't hear our voice, we are still going to make a lot of noise. We are going to rock for Palestine's children and raise as much money as we can for them.”
Since October 2023, over 15,000 Palestinian children have been killed by Israeli military actions, according to human rights and medical organisations. Thousands more are injured, displaced, and orphaned many without access to clean water, electricity, food, or medical care.
Kids Rock 4 Palestine is a powerful statement of solidarity from New Zealand’s youth to their peers in Gaza, showing that empathy and activism can start at any age.
All proceeds from ticket sales and donations on the day will go directly to aid efforts supporting children on the ground in Palestine. These are the charities: Convoys of Good and Kiwi Trust for Palestinian Childrens Relief.
