Hamish Kerr Wins Silesia Diamond League

The Olympic High Jump champion is back on top of the Diamond League podium. Hamish Kerr has defeated a strong field in Silesia, Poland to notch up his second Diamond League win of the year.

Kerr cleared 2.33m, the only athlete over 2.30m in the competition, to set a new season’s best mark. His previous best in 2025 of 2.30m was set on the Summer Circuit at the International Track Meet in Christchurch back in February.

Kerr took three attempts to clear 2.30m, the height which saw current world lead Oleh Doroshchuck of Ukraine, foul out of the competiton. He bounced back in classic Hamish Kerr style to fly over 2.33m on his first attempt.

Kerr said he was “Not surprised” to be clearing these heights. Speaking with Diamond League Athletics, Kerr said his training has been going well and has been indicating that these heights are within his wheel house currently.

Tom Walsh, was close to his season’s best with a 21.72m shot put to finish in fourth. Payton Otterdahl (USA) was once again was too good for the field, throwing 22.28 to win the men’s shot put.

The Diamond League circuit is heating up with only two meets remaining before the Diamond Legue final in Zurich on the 27th to 28th of August.
