Kiwi NRL star Brandon Smith has been charged with a drug offence and for using inside knowledge for betting, according to multiple reports.
In a statement on the South Sydney Rabbitoh's website, the club confirmed it is aware of allegations made by Queensland police against Smith.
The NRL Integrity Unit has been informed.
According to Fox Sports, Smith has been charged with one count of supply dangerous drugs and one count of using or disclosing inside knowledge for betting.
"As this matter is part of a Queensland police investigation, the Rabbitohs will be making no further comment at this stage," the club said in its statement.
It comes after the 29-year-old was interviewed by police when he arrived at Coolangatta Airport with Rabbitohs teammates before their clash with the Gold Coast Titans.
