merci, mercy's Debut Album 'Don't Take It To Heart' Is Out Now

Alt-pop singer songwriter merci, mercy releases her stunning debut album Don’t Take It To Heart.

Exploring the human condition in all its beauty, flaws and all, has defined merci, mercy’s storytelling since her 2020 debut. Establishing herself as one of Australia’s brightest new figures in pop through three acclaimed EPs – no thank you, no thanks (2020), is it me, or is it you? (2022) and Like An Orchid (2023) – her evolution as a songwriter now leads to the release of her long-anticipated debut album, Don’t Take It To Heart.

Crafted with collaborators Chris Collins, Milku and Robby De Sa, the album captures merci, mercy’s truest self: sharp, witty and unafraid to balance darker tones with optimism. From the lead single ‘Cigarettes In The Dark’ to tracks like ‘Angel’ and ‘The Word Love’, the record reflects her resilience, humour and vulnerability, while exploring relationships of all kinds, platonic, romantic, and the one we have with ourselves.

“OMMGGGGGGGGG, my debut album ‘Dont Take It to Heart’ is out now. Time flew by so quickly and I honestly couldn’t be happier. I love this album so much and im so excited that it is now all yours. I hope you enjoy it. Love you xx”

– merci, mercy

Nestled at the midway point in the album, is new song ‘Unsaid’. A moment of introspection and mindfulness, ‘Unsaid’ reflects merci, mercy’s battle with outside perspectives and impressions of her music; the type of songwriter she was perceived to be by some, versus the type of artist she knew (and knows herself) to be. Heartfelt and classic merci, mercy, ‘Unsaid’ stands out as one of her personal favourites of the album.
