Get ready for a Big Weekend! The Bay of Islands Festival is back with a fresh new format that promises an unforgettable Labour Weekend packed with live music, family fun, local flavours, and plenty of atmosphere.
Set under a spacious 1200sqm marquee just minutes from the heart of Paihia, this two-day, four-session festival is completely weather-proof—rain or shine, the party goes on. Whether you’re a family looking for long-weekend fun, a group of mates chasing a night out, or a foodie keen to sample the best of Northland, the Bay of Islands Big Weekend has something for everyone.

Saturday 25 October

Weekend for Kids
The marquee transforms into a tamariki wonderland! Beloved Kiwi entertainers Anika Moa, Jeremy Redmore, and Chris Sanders lead a morning of music, stories, games and dance. A guaranteed hit with the little ones.

5pm – 10pm | Sonar Flare + Hello Sailor
The night belongs to Kiwi rock! Sonar Flare, a powerhouse supergroup featuring Jason Kerrison (Opshop, Babysitter’s Circus), Hamish Gee (The Feelers), Matt Short (The Feelers, Sola Rosa) and Andy Lynch (The Feelers, Atlas), deliver the anthems that shaped New Zealand music. They’re joined by legends Hello Sailor, celebrating 50 years of electrifying live shows.

Sunday 26 October
- 12pm – 4pm | Liquid
Gold
Part of the month-long Savour Northland celebrations, this showcase shines a spotlight on local wine, craft beer, and spirits. Wander through tasting stations, relax in the Gin Garden, chat with top winemakers and brewers, and enjoy live music with your street food favourites plus Northland cheese and oysters. A perfect Sunday session for foodies and friends.

10pm | Oktoberfest
The marquee turns Bavarian as The Little Oompah Band serves up traditional German tunes with a cheeky modern twist. Raise a stein with festival brews from PhatHouse Brewery, QBrew, Heavens Brewery, McLeods, plus Northland wines and spirits. Prost!
