Mīharo! Celebrating Twenty Years Of Wonder In The Heart Of Whakatū
The Nelson Provincial Museum Pupuri Taonga o Te Taiao is inviting the community to join Mīharo! Celebrating Twenty Years of Wonder in the Heart of Whakatū, a special event marking two decades since the Museum opened its doors on Trafalgar Street in the heart of Whakatū.

This free, whānau-friendly celebration will take place on Saturday 1 November 2025, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm, and will fill the Museum with music, creativity and community spirit. The event honours the stories, taonga, exhibitions and people who have shaped the Museum’s first twenty years in the CBD and continue to guide its future.
“For twenty years, the Nelson Provincial Museum has been a place where our community’s stories are shared, celebrated and preserved right in the middle of the CBD,” says Chief Executive Lucinda Jimson. “This milestone is about coming together to recognise the people and partnerships that have helped make the Museum what it is today, and to celebrate the wonder that continues to inspire us.”
