Reveal Self-Titled Fourth Album 'Bootleg Rascal'
Yugambeh/Gold Coast-based band, Bootleg Rascal, have just unveiled their assertive self-titled fourth album, 'Bootleg Rascal'.

Across eleven tracks, the record finds the duo at their most self-assured, engagingly taking on topics like fatherhood, all while exerting their unique brand of optimism and whimsy. Produced by longtime collaborator Caleb Tasker (The Terrys, Rum Jungle) and mixed by Ian Pritchett (Angus & Julia Stone, Boo Seeka), the album bathes in sun-soaked production, effortlessly traversing groove-laden alt-rock, soul-inflected hip hop, and lush cinematic soundscapes.
Guitarist Jimmy Young talks about the inspiration behind the album:
"This album feels like it's been 12 years in the making. All the gigs we've played all around the world, all the songs we've written, all the adventures we've shared, are all building blocks of this latest record. It's the first proper full-length album of new songs we've released since 'Anonimo' back in 2018. I think this record is a great representation of the band as a whole. I think if you've ever had fun at a live show or enjoyed listening to our music over the years, you'll love this record. That's also why we felt it was fitting to make this one self-titled. You never know when your last record will happen, but if this is it, I can die a happy man."
From the kinetic pulse of 'Oti' (feat. Danté Knows) to the slinky swagger of 'Drip Your Love' (feat. Zaya), the album moves through moods and textures with instinctive ease. It's echoed in the poignant 'Street Shark', the playful funk of 'Sapphire Boogie' and strutting bass of 'Steppin'. Closing with the dub-tinged 'Crying For The Weekend', the record feels like a full-circle moment, capturing where the band's been, and the fearless expanse of where they're headed next.
The band is currently touring Australia and New Zealand, featuring a mix of free entry shows, ticketed events, and headlining Dunedin Beer Festival at Forsyth Barr Stadium. The 'Bootleg Rascal' Album Launch Party will be hosted at Bootleggers in Eora/Newtown on Friday, October 31.
This follows on from their nationwide Australian 'BOOTY BLOCK PARTY' tour and tremendous 'Steppin Round The World' tour of New Zealand, and the UK/EU, including stops in France, Germany, The Netherlands, Switzerland, Belgium and England. Additionally, they've played festivals such as Salty Hops, Live At The Pines, Winter Wine, Oktoberfest and Spaced Out, and supported reggae legends Steel Pulse (UK).
Since their formation in late 2012, Bootleg Rascal have built an international following through their soulful energy and unrelenting creativity. They've toured extensively across Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Europe, and the US, while amassing millions of streams and support from Spotify, Apple Music, triple j, NME, Rolling Stone, and more.
Now, with 'Bootleg Rascal', they've distilled everything that's come before - the anthemic highs, the vulnerable lows, the experimentation, and the community they've built, into a record that feels both like a reset and a rebirth.
