World’s Fastest Catamarans Bring A Week Of Foiling And Fun To Auckland’s North Shore

The A-Class Catamarans - among the fastest single-handed foiling boats in the world - are set to light up the Milford coastline next week, as sailors from around the world and locals compete in the PredictWind A-Class Catamaran World Championships 2025.
Hosted by Milford Cruising Club and the New Zealand Multihull Yacht Club, the event will see more than 55 competitors from eight countries competing - bringing a week of foiling spectacle, community spirit, and summer fun to the North Shore.
The A-Class Catamarans are lightweight, high-performance boats that literally fly above the water. Capable of reaching incredible speeds, they attract some of the most skilled sailors in the world. While spectators may not see every moment of the racing from the beach, the excitement will be felt across the coastline and at the club throughout the week.
Locals and visitors are invited to come down and be part of the atmosphere, with plenty happening onshore - from food trucks and live music to daily race updates and opportunities to meet the sailors.
“The PredictWind A-Class Worlds bring a real buzz to our community,” says Andrew Robertson, Commodore of Milford Cruising Club. “It’s not just about the racing, it’s about the people, the excitement, and sharing the hospitality that makes the North Shore so special.”
Event Highlights:
- Opening Ceremony: Sunday 9 November, Milford Cruising Club
- Pre-Worlds Racing: 8–9 November
- Worlds Racing: 11–16 November
- Public Prizegiving: 16 November – 6pm
- Food trucks and entertainment throughout the week
The regatta is expected to draw hundreds of sailors, volunteers, and supporters to the area, creating a lively festival atmosphere around Milford and the surrounding areas.
