Stella Donnelly Releases Third Studio Album

Today, Stella Donnelly releases Love and Fortune, her highly anticipated third studio album, out now via Dot Dash Recordings / Remote Control Records. Love and Fortune marks a brave and vulnerable return to self for the Boorloo-born, Naarm-based singer-songwriter, written during a period of rest and reflection amid the wattle-lined streets and creeks of Melbourne’s inner north.
Previous singles ‘Baths', 'Standing Ovation’, ‘Year of Trouble’ and ‘Feel It Change’ offered glimpses into the heartbreak at the core of Love and Fortune, while the full album captures the ongoing emotional impact of a friendship breakdown. Love and Fortune blends pianos and guitars, as in her earlier work, but this time the arrangements are more exposed, more intentional. Joining Donnelly on the record are longtime collaborators and friends Marcel Tussie, Jack Gaby and Julia Wallace and new guests Sophie Ozard, Timothy Harvey, and Ellie Mason.
With this, the album captures the stiller self, the reflective self, that gently asks where to next. There is a clarity here, the kind that comes from reconnecting with what matters. The result is Donnelly’s most open-hearted and self-assured work to date — a record about loss, certainly, but even more about the quiet, enduring fortune of finding one’s way home.
Leading into release, Love and Fortune has received early support from the likes of triple j, The Guardian, NME, MOJO, DIY, Uncut, Stereogum, Under the Radar, BBC 6 Music, Paste, DORK Magazine, Radio X, The Line of Best Fit, Clash, Apple 1, Wonderland and many more.
