Circa Releases Their 2026 Show Season And Celebrates 50 Years Of Theatre

Circa Theatre is proud to present our 2026 programme and celebrates 50 incredible years of bringing world-class theatre to Wellington.

In our refreshed home, featuring the stunning new Café Bar and Brasserie Chouchou, and our vibrant waterfront facing façade that lights up the city we present to you the 2026 show season.

As part of the 50th celebrations, Circa presents ‘Six of the Best’ play readings as well as 2 new 2026 play readings, these will be performed throughout the year. These readings have been selected from over 1,149 show productions.

The year begins on 24 Jan with ‘The Glass Menagerie’ directed by Colin McColl and designed by Tony Rabbit. Other highlights include a political satire ‘Public Service Announcements – Election Meltdown’ in August, 2 new New Zealand plays ‘After God’ by Stuart McKenzie and ‘Local Library’ by Dave Armstrong as well as 3 children’s holiday shows. The annual Pantomime will run from Nov- Jan.

The Circa Variety Show is being held at Circa Theatre this Sunday 30 November 2025, to raise money for artists through the ‘Theatre Artists Charitable Trust’.

The show will feature Grammy and Oscar Award Winner Bret McKenzie, acclaimed theatre and film actor Jennifer Ward-Lealand and distinguished actor director Michael Hurst, alongside talented musicians, actors and performers Jamie McCaskill and Kali Kopae.
