Latin Cultural Fest Brings A Vibrant Celebration Of Latin American Culture To Christchurch
The New Zealand Latin Community Development Trust (NZLCDT) announces the return of the Latin Cultural Fest 2026, a free, family-friendly festival set to transform the Christchurch Multicultural Recreation Centre into a colourful celebration of Latin American culture on Saturday, 31 January 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Designed as an inclusive cultural event, the Latin Cultural Fest offers a full day of traditional music, folkloric dance, regional cuisine, handmade crafts, a cultural market, children’s activities, and community engagement opportunities. The festival aims to share the warmth, diversity, and creative richness of Latin America with the wider Canterbury community and beyond.
“This festival is not only a space to celebrate our heritage, but also a bridge for cultural understanding,” said the festival organisers. “Christchurch is home to a growing Latin American community, and events like this allow our stories, flavours, and traditions to be experienced by everyone.”
The program features live performances throughout the day, representing multiple regions of Latin America — including the Caribbean, the Andes, Central America, and the Southern Cone. In addition to artistic programming, the venue will host a cultural market featuring local stallholders, artisans, and food vendors delivering authentic Latin American flavours and products.
The event is supported and organised by the New Zealand Latin Community Development Trust, a community-focused organisation dedicated to promoting Latin culture, supporting migrant integration, and fostering intercultural dialogue in Aotearoa New Zealand.
