Comedian Jerome Chandrahasen Heads To Nelson And Dunedin

Wellington’s favourite stand up comedian Jerome Chandrahasen is bringing his hit show on language and laughter, On Words, to Nelson Fringe Festival on 5 – 6 March and Dunedin Fringe Festival on 12 – 14 March.
As seen on Wellington Paranormal and the Best Foods Comedy Gala, Jerome is a regular fixture at the NZ Comedy Fest and NZ Fringe, and even performed at the first Nelson Fringe Festival 2015. On Words marks his first ever show in Dunedin. As always, Jerome promises to bring a bit of good natured banter, some linguistics, and plenty of laughs.
With a BSc in linguistics, Jerome dropped out of honours to do comedy. Now he’s putting his degree to good use in another hour of fantastically funny comedy, talking everything from growing up in the Hutt, his identity as a Fijian Indian New Zealander to how he did a gig for the Black Power.
"Chandrahasen's calibre as a comedian is brilliant; don't miss anything he might do in the future" – Nelson Mail
Jerome has been performing around Aotearoa for more than 20 years, putting on his first stand up gig in 2003 and going on to win the National Raw Comedy Quest the very next year. In 2005 he won Best Newcomer at the NZ Comedy Fest Awards, and in 2006 was nominated for the Billy T Award. Since then he’s performed his comedy everywhere from the NZ Fringe, Edinburgh, to a nice little pub up in Kāpiti.
Jerome is also a regular MC across
the country, and runs Fringe Bar’s Raw Meat Monday,
Wellington’s longest running stand up comedy gig. Since
2010 Jerome has led the Humorous Arts Trust, supporting
Aotearoa and Wellington’s comedy scene to thrive,
including organising the Wellington Raw Comedy Quest each
year.
"... fluid, funny, casual and
brilliant: a comedian in his prime"
