Re-Source Takes Furniture To The Fairway For Charity Golf Fundraiser

Golfers are being asked to swap the traditional pin for a piece of furniture, as the Re-Source Charity Golf Tournament returns with a unique twist on the traditional game.

On Friday, 27 March 2026, players will gather at Hawkes Bay Golf Club not just to chase birdies, but to support a circular economy. In a nod to the charity’s work re-homing furniture and surplus items, the signature event of the day will be the ‘Chip-In Challenge’. Players will test their short game by attempting to chip a golf ball straight into the open slot of a specially selected set of ‘retired’ drawers - giving the unit one final, glorious job out on the grass before it heads off for recycling.

Re-Source is a Hawke's Bay charity dedicated to connecting surplus items with community needs, diverting tons of waste from landfill and furnishing homes for local families in the process.

Organisers say the event is about bringing the community together to support resilience in the Bay.

"We wanted to make sure the day showcased what Re-Source actually stands for," says Nadine Gaunt, General Manager of Re-Source. "We take surplus items and give them a second life. For this challenge, we specifically chose a set of drawers that was beyond repair. Giving it one last job on the fairway is a fun, quirky way to highlight our waste minimisation mission without sacrificing quality items meant for our families."

The tournament has also secured some massive local and international items for its live charity auction, including a signed shirt and cap from US Open winner Michael Campbell, and a bucket-list round of golf donated by the world-class Cape Kidnappers Golf Course.

"To have a legend like Michael Campbell represented on our auction table, alongside a round at one of the world's best courses right here in our backyard, is huge for us," says Nadine. "Every dollar raised goes directly to our operations, keeping our van on the road and our warehouse open."
