Mei Heron To Front TVNZ’s Flagship Morning Business Programme Business Breakfast

TVNZ has today announced 1News’ own Mei Heron as the host of Business Breakfast - a new weekday morning programme delivering essential business news, the latest economic data, and insights from New Zealand and around the world - helping New Zealanders begin their day informed and ahead.

Mei brings more than a decade of frontline journalism across television and radio, reporting on politics, global affairs and complex economic issues. Her experience covering major international events and providing clear, accessible analysis makes her ideally placed to guide viewers through the developments shaping New Zealand’s business and economic environment.

Airing from 6am, Business Breakfast will lead into a refreshed Breakfast at 6.30am, hosted by Chris Chang and Tova O’Brien, creating an unparalleled morning news block that keeps viewers connected to the stories shaping their day.

Phil O'Sullivan, TVNZ's Executive Editor - News, says “Mei brings a depth of journalism experience that makes her an outstanding choice to host Business Breakfast. Her insight and ability to cut through complexity will equip viewers with the knowledge they need to navigate an evolving economic landscape.

“From reporting on world-shaping events like the war in Ukraine to flagship local bulletins and drivetime radio, Mei excels in the live broadcast environment. We’re delighted to have her lead this new programme.”

Mei says she’s thrilled to help shape the way New Zealand starts its business day.
