Tom Walsh Wins Fourth Historic World Title
Walsh has made athletics history, winning his fourth World Athletics Indoor Championships bringing his tally of indoor medals to seven. No other man has won this title more than three times.

In claiming this title, Walsh defended his crown from Nanjing in 2025. Walsh sat inside the top three for the entire competition, with his 5th round 21.66m throw elevating him into the gold medal position. No other could match his best in the final round leaving Walsh the circle to himself as the final thrower. Walsh produced his best on the day, and the season, throwing 21.82m in his final throw to emphatically win his fourth indoor crown.
Walsh has now equalled Valerie Adams total in indoor gold medals, the two global shot put greats stand alone in their career dominance of the indoor championship arena.
Walsh has previously won gold in 2016, '18 and '25, silver in '24 and bronze in '14 and '22.
