Hawke’s Bay Community To Unite For Earth Day Celebration
HAWKE’S BAY, NZ - Re-Source is inviting the Hawke’s Bay community to come together for a relaxed, family-friendly Earth Day celebration on Sunday 19 April 2026 at the Havelock North Domain from 10am to 2pm.
Inspired by this year’s theme “Our Power, Our Planet,” the event highlights what can happen when people come together with a shared purpose. Bringing together a wide range of like-minded organisations, community groups, and individuals, the day is all about connection, collaboration, and practical action.
As a Resource Recovery Hub, Re-Source is built on working collaboratively with others. By connecting businesses, community organisations, and people, Re-Source helps ensure resources are shared, waste is reduced, and support reaches those who need it most. This same spirit of collaboration sits at the heart of the Earth Day celebration.
A key part of the day is the community plant, seedling and produce swap, encouraging people to share what they have grown and take home something new. It is a simple and practical way to connect with others, reduce waste, and celebrate local abundance.
Visitors can also explore the Re-Source Re-Sew stall, featuring repurposed items such as produce bags and doorstops, created by the Re-Sew team. These items showcase how materials can be given a second life, while supporting creativity, skill-building, and sustainability within the community.
Alongside this, attendees can explore a variety of community stalls and connect with groups already making a difference across Hawke’s Bay. From growing your own food and supporting local biodiversity, to reducing waste at home and finding more sustainable ways to live, there will be plenty of ideas and inspiration to take away.
You’ll be able to see a worm farm in action, learn how food scraps can be turned into healthy soil, and discover simple, practical ways to care for our planet in everyday life. There will also be opportunities to explore creative play ideas for tamariki, and learn how surplus food and resources can be shared to support others in the community.
“More than anything, this event is about bringing people together. It is a chance to slow down, connect, and be reminded that small actions, when shared, can create real change for both people and the environment,” says Nadine Gaunt, Founder and General Manager of Re-Source.
Everyone is welcome. Bring your friends, your whānau, and your curiosity, and be part of a day that celebrates the power of community to care for our planet.
