Ahmadiyya Muslim Community To Hold Annual Charity Walkathon
The Ahmadiyya Muslim community New Zealand is holding its 18th annual charity walkathon on 11 Apr 2026. Over the years, this regular annual event has helped raise tens of thousands of dollars to support The Blind Low vision (specifically the guide dogs for those visually impaired), and the Humanity First charities.
“Islam lays great emphasis on serving the community that we live in, and charity forms a cornerstone of our faith. Events like the walkathon give us an opportunity to engage with communities to raise money for those most in need, and we are proud to continue with this tradition”, says Mr Yaseen Chaudhry, National President for Ahmadiyya Muslim Elders Association. The Ahmadiyya Muslim Elders Association is an auxiliary organsation of Ahmadiyya Muslim Association NZ who are hosting the event. “With the uncertainty prevailing worldwide, and peoples’ finances stretched to the limit, there is an increasing need to help charities providing assistance where it is most needed. We hope that our humble efforts will go some way in fulfilling this need”.
The worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is well known to support charities throughout the world and has raised several million dollars internationally through events such as the walkathon. The New Zealand chapter of the Ahmadiyya community continues to be at the forefront of supporting humanitarian causes and disaster relief, may it be by raising money, or by physically reaching out through activities such as new year’s day clean up, earthquake relief, or supporting local centres like the Auckland City Mission.
This year’s walkathon will be held at the Barry Curtis Park in Flat Bush Auckland, starting at 10 am. Over a hundred walkers are expected to take part in the walk, including representatives from various organisations including the Blind Low Vision. The event is managed by a team of volunteers from the Ahmadiyya Muslim community, with 100% of proceeds going to the charities. The participants will be served lunch at the conclusion of the event.
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is a worldwide reformist movement in Islam, with millions of followers in 210 countries. It is acknowledged worldwide for its sincere efforts to establish global peace, and for its work towards charitable causes.
